Preparations require varied treatments depending on the nature, clarity and sterility requirements of the finished product.

Spirit or water based toiletries such as eau-de-cologne lotions, after-shave preparations, perfume sprays and toilet water etc., often need to be filtered before bottling. Sheet filters are ideally suited for this purpose fitted with Carlson XE90H to XE200H. Some products in this category can form hazes, especially in low ambient temperatures and so filtration after chilling to around 0 degrees C can solve this problem. Typical filtration rates are in the range 450-900 litres per square metre per hour. Sheet filters are also suited to hazardous area applications, sometimes found where high alcohol concentrations are to be filtered.
